I don’t know about you…
But it seems like everyone has a f**king subscription nowadays. And I’m not just talking about streaming services like Amazon and Netflix…
You can get groceries, clothes, and pet supplies for a monthly fee. Even Mercedes-Benz’ is offering EXTRA HORSEPOWER to their electric cars for a MONTHLY FEE.
We are doomed.
*table slam* *table slam* *table slam*
This is f**kin’ nuts.
And get this. A big investment bank estimated the entire subscription economy will grow to $1.5 trillion by 2025, which is more than double what it was in 2020 at $650 billion.
I’m no data-scientist math nerd but (pardon my french) that’s a metric f-ton. Thousands will suffer and die on the Walmart floor.
Here’s why this is a problem:
Being an dumba** with your finances happens in two ways.
- Making a big, dum-dum monies decisions
- (ex. Buying a car you can’t afford)
- Making many small, dum-dum monies decisions
- (ex. Eating out/buying taquitos)
Subscriptions fall under #2, and they can ruin your financial success.
Most people sign up simply because they have no other way of getting what they want or they’re told it’s more “convenient”…
When you’re really just getting screwed over by background spending:
The more apps and streaming platforms you subscribe to, the more money gets sucked out of bank account each month without thinking about it.
And the “not thinking about it” is the problem. These companies want you to hand over your credit card details so “they’ll take care of it for you” – and keep you paying until DEEAATTTHH.
It’s gotten so bad that a research firm asked 1,000 people to guess how much they spent on subscriptions before counting it. They found the average monthly spend was $219 — more than 2.5 times the $86 people guessed.
How much are you spending per month on subscriptions?
I know I’m going to start sounding like this in a second…
But these companies are hoping you forget about your subscription with them. They want you to be a mindless zombie, give them your card info, and go brainrot on TikTok.
But you’re not going to.
Because you follow the Caleb-Hammer-credo:
“Hands Off” doesn’t mean “Eyes Closed”.
You’re responsible for your monies.
That means every month you:
✅ Go through your statements
✅ See what subscriptions you’re subscribed to
✅ Audit what you don’t use or need
Right? Riighhtt??
…
That’s what I thought.
Trust me, I guarantee you’ll find subscriptions you don’t even use or forgot about – and you’re STILL PAYING FOR THEM.
Now, you’ll have way more money to spend save 🙂
Taquitos,
Caleb Hammer
